The Advertising procedure at the Students’ Society of McGill University (SSMU) consists of several primary methods outlined below. For more information please contact our Sponsorship Representative.


The billboards are only for Students Groups and McGill Community communications. For commercial advertising, please contact the Sponsorship Representative.

In order to post your advertisement on any of the SSMU designated poster boards, you must submit your posters for approval by bringing them to the SSMU Office (3600 McTavish, suite 1200, between the hours of 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday). Once the posters have been approved WE POST them for a period of 2 weeks from posting date. All postings take place on Tuesdays and Thursdays and any materials posted without our permission will be removed. A repeat occurrence of unapproved posters may result in a building ban.

You can submit a maximum of two posters at or between the sizes of 8.5″ x 11″ and 11″ x 17″. Advertisements must not compete with University Centre and tenant operations and/or contain objectionable materials deemed inappropriate by the SSMU. Anything that doesn’t match this criterion will not be posted. The SSMU reserves the right to reject any poster and will not be held responsible for the physical security of posted materials.

We are looking for interesting deals for students. If you would like to post a discount or offer for our McGill community, you can have it display on our website on the Discount section and the Marketplace page. Please contact the Sponsorship Representative for more information.


The SSMU Listserv is used solely for communication between SSMU and the student population.


The SSMU AÉUM Facebook page is primarily dedicated to the student population and intended for SSMU to communicate its main events and activities to the students. However, in various circumstances where SSMU finds an outstanding benefit to the student population, it may advertise this through Facebook via indirect advertising methods.


The @theSSMU Twitter account is primarily used by the SSMU executives to communicate with the student population. However, in various circumstances where SSMU finds that an outstanding benefit to the student population, it may advertise this through Twitter via indirect advertising methods.


SSMU creates the annual student handbook distributed to undergraduate students on campus. Every year, SSMU distributes 8000 copies. The Student Handbook relies heavily on advertising received from external sources.

Digital Screens

We have 5 digital screens available at the University Centre to advertise important about the SSMU events and other events around campus. External advertisers are also welcome to advertise in the screens.

Tabling at the University Centre

Throughout the year, tables are available for booking in the University Centre’s lobby and near the second-floor cafeteria. The building has a constant flow of between 1,000 to 1,400 McGill students, faculty and staff streaming in and out on any given day.

Tabling opportunities are ideal for any company looking to increase their exposure to McGill’s 30,000 plus student and working population. A table offers sponsors an opportunity to showcase their products and services to students as well as recruit part-time or full-time student staff. Most students enter the building through the main lobby doors meaning sponsors located at the centre kiosk in the lobby will benefit from exclusive and immediate exposure to students as they arrive and depart. Sponsors will be able to promote and sell their products, display visual materials, use wireless internet and have access to electricity.

Sponsors may request reservations up to two weeks in advance of their desired dates. Availability can be checked here and rates are listed below. You can also bundle your table bookings with room bookings.
