Dear SSMU Member,
On July 23, 2020, the Board of Directors of the Students’ Society of McGill University presented a motion calling for a Special General Assembly for the removal of the Vice-President (Internal Affairs)-Elect Declan McCool, for reasons of inability to fulfill the mandate of the Office of the Vice-President (Internal Affairs). Under Article 10.6 of the SSMU Constitution, the Board of Directors may call a Special General Assembly for the removal of a SSMU Officer through two-thirds (⅔) approval of the Board of Directors.
With this requirement being satisfied, the SSMU will hold a Special General Assembly on Tuesday, September 8th, 2020, at 14:00 EST, via Zoom to deliberate on the removal of the VP Internal-Elect. Please note that a General Assembly is the only process in which a SSMU Officer may be removed from their position, other than by their own resignation.
Please note that a digital form will be distributed for registration for attendance of the Special General Assembly sooner to the date of the Assembly.
Please contact the Speaker of the Legislative Council and Chair of the Board of Directors, if you have any questions about the Special General Assembly or the process applicable to this Assembly.
