My name is Chloe Garcia and I am a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Education at McGill. I am looking for young people to participate in my study on sexual consent and media education. We would be collaboratively learning about sexual consent by exploring YouTube videos and producing our own vlog. This is a short video that can take multiple shapes, from a single shot rant from the producer, to a more extensive documentary form. It is usually published online, but for this study, that is up to you. The goal of this project would be to gather insight on vlogging as a learning tool to see if it has potential in sexuality education. Your input would be crucial to this study!

Information about participation
I am using a methodology called ‘participatory research’, which means you will have an active say in different stages of the project. Therefore, participants are asked to commit approximately 8-10 hours in total, divided as follows:

3 workshops
-March 20th from 6-8 pm (room tbd)
-March 22nd from 6-8 pm (room tbd)
-March 29th from 6-8 pm (room tbd)

Approximately 1 hour of work making your vlog outside the workshops (this can range from a 60 second to 5 minute video)

Optional: input on the research may be provided at a later date. The researcher will contact you by email with this option. You do not have to be involved at this point if you choose note to.

Participants will be compensated $75 each for their participation, with a chance to win a $100 gift card at the end of the study.

So, if you are between the ages of 18 and 30 years old, own a cell phone or tablet, and if you are interested in participating in this project, please email me at chloe.garcia@mail.mcgill.ca and I will contact you shortly with the consent form and more details. Please note the 3 workshops will take place at the end of March/beginning of April. We will complete a Doodle poll to find the best times.

Please be aware that the project might entail some conversations around difficult topics related to sexual consent.
