DESCRIPTION OF HOST ORGANIZATION: The Social Equity and Diversity Education (SEDE) office provides information, education and training to all areas of the university in order to cultivate a respectful, diverse, inclusive and equitable campus. As a part of this commitment, SEDE also connects with local and regional organizations to create spaces and opportunities for McGill’s students and staff to engage in community-based learning experiences that foster leadership and promote a deeper understanding of diversity.


• Organizing SEDE materials and supplies
• Systematizing SEDE’s files and archives
• Assisting with general office tasks and organization
• Data entry and assisting with creating SEDE’s reports and publications
• Assisting with the organization of SEDE events such as Orientation, Community Engagement Day, Alternative Spiting Break and SEDE’s Research Symposium
• Assisting with SEDE’s Communications and Marketing
• Special Projects for SEDE as required. (Safer Spaces communications)

DURATION: January 9th 2017 – May 31st 2017 (20 weeks)

$13.13 per hour (approximately 10-15 hours per week), 4% vacation pay and 3.6% compensation for Legal Holidays will be included on each pay.

• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, Internet and social media applications
• Fluency in the Adobe and/or Final Cut Pro Video Editing software. Video creation and editing skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills demonstrated written/editing skills.
• Very strong attention to detail. Innovation and creativity in media arts and communications
• Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
• Coordination of collaborative projects and event planning experience. Innovative, dedicated and analytical.
• Strong interpersonal skills, high degree of organizational and planning skills, ability to work independently
• Ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds, experiences and types of knowledge

ELIGIBILITY: Only students who qualify for work-study will be eligible to apply for this position
