The Motor Neuroscience Lab. at McGill University is seeking native English-speaking subjects for a TMS (Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation) study. Subjects will listen to words presented over headphones and they will be asked to choose which of of two words shown on a computer screen, is closest to the one they heard. During the experiment, the speech area of the subject’s brain will be stimulated with TMS and lip muscle activity will be recorded via surface electrodes. You are not eligible to participate if you have a family history of seizures or are taking psychoactive medication.
If you are interested in participating please send an email to our lab (mcl.mcgill@gmail.com) with the title of study in the subject line. Experiment will take almost 2hours and 10 minutes. You will be compensated $40. Prior to beginning the experiment, we will verify that we can record lip muscle activity. In some people this is not possible and if so we will have to terminate the experiment in which case you will be given $20.
