Committee Spots Available

Ever wanted to get involved in the governance of the University? Have an issue on campus you are deeply passionate about? Think you have a great idea to make an impact on students? SSMU is currently looking for students to sit as student body representatives on a number of subcommittees of the McGill Senate, working groups and advisory boards. This is a fantastic opportunity to get involved on campus working with both McGill administration and SSMU!

Information about many of the committees can be found on the McGill website, however any questions should be directed to the University Affairs Secretary-General. Interested students should have a strong desire to learn more about policy making, discussion and implementation at McGill, have strong communications skills, be willing to prioritize committee meetings over other commitments, and show an interest in student politics, student academics, and student life. Experience in student politics and an understanding of issues students face on campus is preferable, however we encourage all interested students to apply.

To apply, please send a 150-200 word paragraph outlining your interest and experience, along with the most recent copy of your resume, to University Affairs Secretary-General. Students interested in applying for more than one committee can add an additional 100-125 words per committee, which should be focused on their interest and experience that applies specifically to that committee. The deadline to apply is June 6th 2014.
