Building Services coordinates security measures for the SSMU University Centre (3480 McTavish) and SSMU Annex (3501 Peel). Learn about available security resources, protocols, and how to report concerns.

 

On-Site Security

 

  • University Centre: Security personnel are stationed at the main entrance during operating hours
  • SSMU Annex: Reception staff monitor access during business hours
  • After Hours: Access is restricted to authorized personnel with proper credentials

Building Access & Hours

University Centre (3480 McTavish):

  • Monday to Friday: 8:30 am – 6:00 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed (except for special events)

SSMU Annex (3501 Peel):

  • Monday to Friday: 9:00 am – 5:00 pm
  • Saturday and Sunday: Closed

After-Hours Access: Requires pre-approval and proper credentials. Requires pre-approval and proper credentials. Submit requests through the RedMine system at least 48 hours in advance.

Event Security

Events may require dedicated security personnel based on:

  • Expected attendance
  • Nature of the event
  • Alcohol service
  • Time and duration

Reporting Security Concerns

  • Immediate Threats: Call 911, then notify McGill Security at 514-398-3000
  • Non-Emergency Concerns: Report to on-site security personnel or Building Services staff
  • Lost & Found: See the Lost & Found page for procedures
