Last year, Leacock’s Online Magazine was chosen as Publication of the Year by both SSMU and AUS. We’re now in the process of growing and we’re looking for enthusiastic and dedicated permanent contributors willing to write features on a regular basis for one of four sections: Lifestyle, Music, Fashion, Food.

We’re also looking for someone with experience in web design to help improve our site (to be paid a $$ stipend $$)

Registration for jhr’s Train the Trainer Human Rights conference is now open!
For those of you who missed out on this human rights trainer accreditation program the last three times Journalists for Human Rights McGill hosted a Train-the-Trainer conference, it’s back! BOOK BAZAAR CASHIER WANTED

SSMU IS HIRING

POSITION TITLE: Book Bazaar Cashier

POSITION SUMMARY:

To ensure that cash, debit, and credit transactions are accurately performed and recorded, to ensure a high level of customer service, to contribute to the overall operation of the Book Bazaar, and to assist the Book Bazaar Manager with various administrative tasks.

FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Accurately process retail sales, including cash, debit, and credit card transactions;
  2. Balance Cash with daily sales reports and submit end of shift report to the Book Bazaar Manager;
  3. Process all incoming books for consignment;
  4. Open and track student accounts;
  5. Assist in the stocking of shelves and maintain the general cleanliness and organization of the store;
  6. Submit weekly sales reports, time sheets, petty cash, and cheque requisitions to the Book Bazaar Manager;
  7. Other duties may include responding to in-person inquiries, replying to e-mails, and assisting with marketing activities.

Pakistan Flood Victims Fundraising

Pakistan Flood Victims Relief Efforts committee is raising funds for the victims of the flood in Pakistan. The committee is sending all donations to the Nur Foundation (http://www.nurfoundation.org/) and the Sungi Development Foundation (http://www.sungi.org/).

– Jugo Juice sales on Saturday August 14th, 2010 go towards the flood relief.

– The committee will be at Tam Tams this Sunday August 15th, 2010 @ Mont-Royal Parc, starting at NOON.

FROSH STREET TEAM NEEDED

SSMU is looking for volunteers for its Frosh Street Team. The Street Team will be in the Milton-Parc Neighborhood (a.k.a. the student ghetto) and will help and guide froshies through the area. The Street Team will be on the streets between 10:30pm and 3:30am, from August 25th to August 29th. Volunteers can do either 2.5hours shifts or 5 hours shifts.

You do not have to be available the whole 5 nights, it is possible for you to do only one shift throughout Frosh. Food will be provided to the volunteers. It’ll be very fun and spark up memories from the time you were doing Frosh! If you’re interested, or have any questions, please contact Myriam at external@ssmu.mcgill.ca

Wanted: Drivesafe volunteers for Frosh Aug. 28-29

SSMU is looking for fabulously responsible drivers for DRIVESAFE – one of SSMU’s most wicked services. Join in the fun, behind the scenes of MISSION IMFROSHIBLE and faculty froshes.

Volunteer to be a driver or the shotgun DJ for the night and you’ll be 50 dollars richer.

Help make FROSH safer, help DRIVESAFE get good old froshies back home safely. Bring a friend to shotgun with you and have an adventure!
