RALLY & MARCH TO DEMAND JUSTICE FOR NICOUS D’ANDRE SPRING!

About the event

Meet at McGill Roddick Gates (15A Sherbrooke W)

21-year-old Black youth Nicous D’Andre Spring was murdered by prison guards in the Bordeaux Detention Centre while illegally detained past his scheduled date of release. He died from his injuries on Christmas eve 2022. The CDN-NDG community valued Nicous as a youth mentor, friend, brother, and son. Nicous’ death is not isolated – violence against Black and Indigenous people is foundational to the functions of provincial and federal prisons. Nicous’ community demands a thorough, community-led inquiry into Nicous’ death and prosecution of the officer involved. Donate to and share the fundraiser organized by Nicous’ family here.

The community demands an end to the violent over-policing of Black, Indigenous, and racialized immigrant communities in Montreal and that police funds are redirected into essential community services. Join us this Friday to amplify the demands of Nicous’ community!
