The McGill African Students’ Society (MASS) is a vibrant community dedicated to celebrating, promoting, and preserving the diverse cultures and heritage of Africa at McGill University and beyond. Our mission is to foster a strong sense of unity, pride, and belonging among African students while serving as a bridge to educate and inspire the broader community about the richness, complexity, and contemporary relevance of African traditions and identities. Through our initiatives, we aim to dismantle stereotypes, promote cultural exchange, and create platforms for meaningful dialogue that highlights Africa’s contributions to global history, creativity, and progress. With 14 executives and 3 subcommittees, we engage approximately 2,000 students through signature events like cultural nights, educational workshops, social gatherings, guest speaker series, the Africa Speaks Conference, and the Annual MASS Gala. These initiatives not only showcase the vibrancy of African culture but also encourage critical conversations on issues shaping African communities globally.
