Cycling @ McGill

The McGill Cycling Website functions as an interactive forum whereby members can post group rides, races, potlucks and other club events. The website also serves as a platform for discussing the sport of cycling as well as a free and for sale classified service.

Dragon Boat Z

Founded in 2008, Dragon Boat Z is McGill University’s student dragon boating club, dedicated to promoting the sport of dragon boat racing within the McGill community and beyond. Whether you’re a seasoned paddler or a complete beginner, our team serves as a welcoming gateway for anyone looking to dive into this fast-growing sport. At Dragon Boat Z, we believe in building both athletic skill and team spirit. Our mission is to foster a supportive environment where students and members of all experience levels can learn, train, and excel. We compete in races throughout the Montreal area and beyond, with appearances in competitions in Toronto. Our team is driven by passion, resilience, and a commitment to pushing the limits—on and off the water. Flag Football Club

The McGill Students for Flag Football club would aim to increase exposure for the sport of flag football in the McGill community as well as foster a friendly, yet competitive environment for players of all skill levels to improve at the sport. The main goal behind the creation of this club is that it would enable students to continue their passion while being affiliated with McGill, which would benefit both parties. Therefore, a 5v5 league played outdoors in the fall is proposed. The games would be scheduled in groups as tournaments played on weekends.

McGill Badminton Club

Here at the McGill Badminton Club, we strive to create an encouraging atmosphere where members of all levels feel welcome playing together; whether you are looking for a recreational or a competitive environment. We are currently not offering drop-ins for the fall 2022 semester. Instead, we will be hosting a semester-long tournament collaborating with the McGill Intramurals team.

McGill Climbing Club

Established in 2022 by a group of eager friends, the McGill Climbing Club is one of McGill’s largest and fastest growing clubs. Our community is diverse and passionate, ranging from beginners who are trying climbing for their first time to provincial, national and international level athletes. Our main goal is to make climbing as accessible as possible to the McGill community. Our weekly events include our famous themed “Social Sunday” event at Cafe Bloc and our more relaxed general meetings. Social Sunday is a great opportunity to try climbing for the first time because we can provide you with a free day pass (email or DM us on Instagram for more info!) and our general meeting is a zero cost way of meeting new friends and spending time with other fellow climbers. We also have trip execs who are in charge of planning and leading multiple trips to the great outdoors! These trips are an amazing opportunity to try outdoor climbing for the first time and make lifelong memories! Bouldering, lead, trad, ice in the great outdoors of Quebec and beyond… What more could you want!? And finally, the McGill Climbing Club hosts a great love for competitive climbing! No matter your skill level, our competition exec is here to help you discover the competition scene in Montreal. Our competition team hosts climbers from the beginner/local level all the way up to athletes who have represented Canada on the world stage! We believe climbing is the greatest sport in the world and would love for you to join us! We hope to see you soon!

McGill Esports Student’s Association

The McGill eSports Student Association is one of the campus’ largest clubs, with hundreds of members and competitive collegiate teams that are playing Valorant, League of Legends, Apex Legends, Rainbow 6, Marvel Rivals, and more! MESA also hosts a variety of casual events like game nights and watch parties for the wider audience, as well as having gaming spaces available for members to use. Come join our discord, hop in a call and play some games with your fellow students or look to compete on one of our many teams!

McGill Karateka

McGill Karateka was created to facilitate McGill students’ access to Shotokan-style karate training. Through safe and inclusive trainings focused on katas (forms), kumite (sparring), and kihon (techniques), as well as karate related social events, the Club has the goal to encourage student networking as well as to improve physical and mental health. The Club provides access to grading examinations to grow in ranks as a karateka, and access to material ordering such as karategis (karate wear), belts, and kumite gear. Moreover, information on the art of karate will be made easily accessible to all interested students. The Club promotes the philosophy of karate, which puts forward the ideas of seeking perfection of character, faithfulness, endeavour, respect, and abstention from violence. Through participation in the Club’s karate trainings, students will work to improve and maintain their physical fitness by performing cardiovascular, endurance and other different types of exercises. Our members will benefit from other positive impacts of exercise such as reducing stress and gaining self-confidence.

McGill Muggle Quidditch Club

McGill Quidditch is Canada’s first and most prestigious quidditch club. McQuid provides a fun, competitive, and inclusive environment for everyone who wants to play! Boasting first place at last year’s divisional championships, McGill is a front-runner on the Canadian quidditch scene. As a team, we travel across Canada and even to the US for tournaments against other universities and regional teams. McQuid provides a large network of diverse McGill students, with members in almost every faculty. By being on the team, you not only get to play a cool sport, but you also have an instant circle of close and caring friends and teammates who will stay with you for life. Find us practicing on Lower Field or on the McTavish Reservoir!

McGill Naginata Club

The McGill Naginata Club is dedicated to the martial art of Naginata. A naginata is a Japanese pole-arm similar to a glaive. In addition to teaching the techniques of the sport, the club also promotes healthy teamwork and fosters strong bonds between members through competition, mutual learning, and social activities. The McGill Naginata Club welcomes all students, of every level, and especially those who have never tried (or seen) naginata before! There is practice for both the competitively minded and non-competitive student. All equipment for beginners can be borrowed for the first few months.

The McGill Padel Club is the first university-affiliated padel club in Canada. Our vision of fostering a community of padel players, promoting active lifestyles, and introducing students to the fast-growing sport of padel.

McGill Student Boxing Club

We are a student-run SSMU club that aims to bring together both boxers and aspiring boxers of McGill University. The club was established in 2012 to provide training for students in a safe and social environment. We conduct training twice a week at the McGill Gym and people of all skill levels are welcome!

McGill Student’s Outdoors Club (MOC)

The McGill Outdoors Club is one of the oldest (outing) clubs in Montreal! Founded in 1936, the MOC mission is to get you outside, no matter what your experience or skill level. We run outdoor adventures, run weekly kayak rolling sessions in the McGill pool, hold weekly meetings, rent out gear at low prices, and own a communal house in the foothills of the Laurentian Shield.

McGill Students Cricket Club

McGill Cricket Club constitutes cricket loving enthusiasts who aim to promote the beautiful game of cricket among the McGill population and attract cricketers from all the different fields at McGill to play and represent their prestigious University in local, national and international cricket tournaments. The McGill Cricket Club has been recognized by Cricket Canada, Quebec Cricket Federation (QCF) and American College Cricket.

 

McGill Students Running Club – McRun

McRUN is a recreational running club that meets every week to provide students the opportunity to get to know each other while going on short runs around Montreal. We have four pace groups and each group meets about 1-2 times per week! At every run we have head runners who help set the pace, give running tips, and ensure everyone is comfortable with the route. Come when you can, there is no obligation to attend every week! 1-2 times per semester, we hold larger events like a pub run, Halloween run, ice cream run, etc. Come run with us! We also have a 5k race on campus happening this September!

McGill Table Tennis Club

The McGill Table Tennis Club aims to increase exposure for the sport of table tennis in the McGill community as well as foster a friendly, yet competitive environment for players of all skill levels to improve at the sport. We host practice sessions twice a week where you can drop-in whenever you have time and either play with friends or seek guidance from one of our practice coordinators who can help you improve. We host an internal tournament every semester and tryouts in the fall. Through the fall tryouts, the strongest players are selected to comprise a women’s and co-ed team that are sent to represent McGill at NCTTA (National Collegiate Table Tennis Association) tournaments, competing with over 150 universities across North America. Lastly, we aim for a sense of community. This is achieved through our numerous social events each year that bring people together to play table tennis or other activities in a more casual setting.

McGill Ultimate Club

The McGill Ultimate Team (a.k.a. MUT) is a club comprised of four ultimate teams: Open A, Open B, Women’s A and Women’s B. All four teams compete in the Canadian University Ultimate Championships in the fall and the A teams compete in the USA Ultimate College Series in the spring.

The A teams are highly competitive and consistently place in the top 5 of Canada. The B teams are more developmental and comprised of players with less experience or those who would prefer a less competitive atmosphere. 

All members become part of a tight-knit community that hosts several events throughout the year, including an end-of-season banquet that recognizes the hard work and achievement of our members.

This club unites female flag football players through their passion for competition and their drive for improvement, thus promoting women sports and the growth of flag-football in Quebec.

Poseidon Water Polo

We are a student run club that aims to bring together players of all experience levels. Poseidon plays in the University and Quebec Water Polo leagues. Our practices are twice a week and are great to stay in shape and make new friends!

SSMU Football Enthusiasts’ Club

We are a student-run club at McGill University that aims to bring together soccer (football) fans on campus. We hold events where soccer fans can come together and share in their enjoyment of this beautiful sport, such as watch parties and pick-up soccer games.

SSMU Powerlifting Club

The SSMU Powerlifting Club is a student society at McGill dedicated to strength training. Our club caters both to competitive athletes, those who are looking to learn or progress in a new sport as well as those who enjoy lifting weights at the gym to get fit and stronger! Our goals as a club are to build a social community of people who share a passion in lifting heavy weights, setting goals at the gym and ofcourse, eating a lot of food. We offer our members a chance to make new friends and have a good time at the gym while reaching their goals.

SSMU Ski and Snowboard Club

SSMU Ski and Snowboard Club is a service that in the winter term takes students to nearby mountains for daily ski trips. In the fall, there are a few events that allow for students to meet each other before we head out skiing and snowboarding in the winter term.
