The Summit happens on December 3-4

On December 3 and 4, 2012, we’ll be holding a summit at McGill University’s downtown campus.

Leading up to the Quebec Summit on Higher Education, our aims are to consult McGill students as well as to provide an alternative forum for McGill community members to discuss local topics that likely won’t be covered at the Quebec Summit.

Presenters include Principal Heather Munroe-Blum, FEUQ President Martine Desjardins, Quebec Chief Scientist Remi Quirion, CEO of think tank CIRANO Claude Montmarquette, research director and chief economist of the Quebec Employers Council Norma Kozhay, (Paul-Émile Auger, spokesperson of TaCEQ), and more.

Topics to be addressed include:
– Underfunding of universities: Myth or reality
– The place of international and out of province students
– Financing of universities: who should pay?
– Research vs. teaching
– University-industry partnerships

Full service translation services are available (English to French and vice versa) and refreshments will be provided.

Participate through online forums on our website: http://ssmu.ca/educationsummit

Co-organized by McGill’s Post-Graduate Students’ Society (PGSS), the Students’ Society of McGill University (SSMU), and the Association for Graduate Students Employed at McGill (AGSEM).
