Renewal of reduced fare OPUS cards: STM photographers visit over 150 high schools, cegeps and universities

Montréal, August 13, 2014 – Until mid-October, STM photographers will be stopping in over 150 high schools, cegeps and universities, giving students the opportunity to quickly obtain or renew their reduced fare OPUS card while avoiding last-minute line-ups.

To obtain their reduced fare card, students must have the following items on hand with them at the time of registration:

  • Cash ($14 during school tour, $15 at the studio)
  • Proof of full-time student status
  • Proof of age (under 26 years old by October 31 of this year)

The OPUS Tour’s complete calendar can be viewed here.

Mobile App

The STM also invites students to download its OPUS Tour mobile app available for iPhone and Android. In addition to finding a lot of practical information about the OPUS Tour, students can also experiment with augmented reality, a fun animation that is activated when viewing the OPUS Tour campaign image. The application enables students to easily find their school in the list of institutions and add the specific date to their calendar, while even setting up a reminder for the day before.

A chance to win three years of free transportation!

Students who will have renewed their card during the school tour or before September 30 at the STM photo studio could win three years of free public transit with the STM. Three prizes will be awarded, one per academic level, i.e. high school, cegep and university. To enter, simply fill out the contest form.

Reduced fares

To obtain a reduced fare card, students 16 to 25 years old must each year prove their full-time student status. These cards are only valid for one year, until October 31 of the year following its purchase. The STM issues more than 205,000 photo OPUS cards annually, and the reduced fare offers a 40% discount on the regular fare.
