Student Research Competition!

Student Research Competition!

The SSMU University Affairs Committee is running a Student Research Competition!

The University Affairs Portfolio currently coordinates a variety of research projects focused on university policy, student affairs and applied student research. Our goal is to promote active student involvement in addressing the challenges faced by our university community, so we would like to offer students an opportunity to conduct paid research on a McGill issue that is important to them!

Research proposals might focus on teaching strategies, student services, campus programming, McGill histories, sustainability, social equity, accessibility, student union activities and more. Past research projects have focused on employment equity at the University, Indigenizing the academy, alternative McGill histories, etcetera.

Successful applicants will have the opportunity to work on their project during the Winter term on a paid contract basis with SSMU (30+ hours). Researchers will be expected to draft a report and policy brief so that the Society can apply this research to its advocacy efforts. Additionally, final projects may also be considered for publication in a special research journal.

To apply, please send your CV to arc@ssmu.mcgill.ca. Additionally, please complete the research proposal form at http://goo.gl/forms/c2yRXBUR65

The deadline to apply is midnight on Monday, January 11. Shortlisted candidates will be notified within one week. From there, shortlisted candidates will be asked to provide more specific information on their project and will be interviewed by members of the University Affairs Committee.
