Between September 23 and October 3, SSMU and PGSS worked with SACOMSS to host focus group sessions on McGill University’s draft Policy Against Sexual Violence. Funding for these consultations was provided by the Office of the Provost. The resulting report contains 28 specific recommendations for improvement, organized into seven categories: Language and Framing, Scope, Empowering Survivors, Education and Awareness, Support Resources, Accountability, and Comprehensive Review. SSMU and PGSS are committed to advocating for these priorities in order to ensure that the final policy reflects the needs of our members. The policy is scheduled to be presented for a first reading at the Senate meeting on Wednesday, October 19th at 2:30PM in the Redpath Museum Auditorium.
