The current nomination period is open from September 18th, 9:00 AM until October 2nd, 5:00 PM! Summary of the VP Finance portfolio:

Also known as “VP Finance,” the Vice-President (Finance) is a SSMU Executive and the Chief Financial Officer of the Society and its responsible for:

  • All matters related to finance, investments, and budget.
  • Oversee management of the Accounting team.
  • Provide financial services to student groups.
  • Alongside the General Manager, prepare the annual budget, manage human resources, and oversee the insurance plan.

Question: What is the SSMU?

Answer: The SSMU stands for Students’ Society of McGill University, a not-for-profit organization which is a student union for approximately 23,000 McGill undergraduate students in the downtown campus.

Question: What is a SSMU Executive, also known as SSMU Officer?

Answer: SSMU Executives are elected undergraduate McGill students! SSMU Executives work to provide support, advocacy and services to students at McGill. This includes events, initiatives, and long-term projects for the organization.

Question: How many hours can you expect to work as a SSMU Executive?

Answer: SSMU Executives are full-time employees; you can expect to work approximately 40 hours a week.

Question: How long is the SSMU Executive term?

Answer: The term begins on June 1 and ends on May 31 of the following year. 

Question: What are the minimum requirements for becoming an SSMU Executive?

Answer: To be eligible for an Executive position at SSMU you must have Full-time or Part-time status as an undergraduate student at McGill University and be at least 18 years of age at the point of ratification.
