Building Services is responsible for the upkeep and repair of facilities within the SSMU University Centre (3480 McTavish) and the SSMU Annex (3501 Peel). Report issues or request routine maintenance through our service system.
Services Offered
Routine Maintenance
Scheduled upkeep of building systems (HVAC, lighting, plumbing), common areas, and grounds.
Repairs
Addressing reported issues such as leaks, broken fixtures, electrical problems, and malfunctioning equipment in common areas.
Custodial Services
Cleaning of common areas, washrooms, and event spaces to maintain a clean and welcoming environment.
Pest Control
Management of pest issues within the buildings through preventative measures and targeted treatments.
Minor Renovations
Coordination of small-scale improvements or modifications (subject to approval and resources).
How to Request Service
Building Services Responsibility: Liason with McGill Facilites or directly manage maintenance of base building structure (site depedent), common areas, shared systems, and SSMU-owned equipment within these areas.
Tenant/Occupent Responsibility: Maintenance and repairs within leased spaces or for student group occupied spaces and/or equipment are typically the responsibility of the tenant or occupant, unless otherwise specified in agreements.
Scope of Service
Submit a Request: The primary method for reporting issues or requesting maintenance is through the BUilding Services Ticket System. Please provide detailed information, including location and nature of the problem.
Urgent Issues: For urgent matters impacting safety or building operations (e.g., major leaks, power outages), please call Building Services directly at 514-776-5989 during business hours. For after-hours emergencies, contact McGill Security at 514-398-3000.
Response Time: Routine requests are typically addressed within 2-3 business days. Urgent issues receive immediate attention during business hours.

Who fixes issues inside my club space?
Generally, clubs are responsible for their own equipment and furnishings. Building Services handles structural issues, electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC within all spaces.
What is considered an urgent repair?
Any issue that poses an immediate safety risk, could cause significant damage to the building, or severely disrupts building operations (e.g., major water leaks, power outages, broken locks on exterior doors).
