Borderless World Volunteers is a registered Canadian charity founded in 2003 with the goal of helping undergraduate university students lead development projects across the globe while contributing to the wellness of their own local communities. Borderless World Volunteers was founded to provide a link between university students and local development organizations in developing countries.
The MEA focuses on bringing the McGill community stimulating events regarding climate change and the energy transition to increase awareness and conversation. Fit For A Cause (FFAC) is a student-run charity fitness program in which fitness instructors volunteer their services teaching fitness classes whilst collecting donations for charity. In order for participants to take part in the fitness classes, we ask for a minimum donation of $2.00 per class. All proceeds that FFAC raises will be donated to an organization of choice, determined by the end of each semester. This semester we are exploring virtual operations and alternative activities to our traditional physical classes, due to COVID.
Girls for Ghana is a student-run club with the main goal of fundraising on behalf of the Create Change Foundation. The Create Change Foundation is a registered Canadian non-profit that focuses on empowering girls in Ghana through education and leadership, allowing them to help their families and communities out of poverty. Their mission is to lead a self-sufficient model of charity that is run by empowered youth. We host various fundraisers throughout the year, as well as guest speaker panels and social events. This club is a safe space for all McGill students to learn more about the importance of women’s education, gain leadership experience, and help grant others the same opportunities that we are so privileged to have. Little Forests McGill (LFM) is a student-run club focused on planting small, very dense, and highly biodiverse urban forests, using the Miyawaki method, to help protect our ecosystem and the climate at a local and global scale! We’re also passionate about changing how we think about nature, and finding ways to form a closer bond with our non-human neighbours and relatives. All are welcome 🙂
World University Service of Canada (WUSC) is a non-profit international development organization that works to improve education, employment, and empowerment opportunities for youth around the world. Since 1986, McGill and the student-led Local Committee have welcomed more than 59 former refugees through WUSC with 15 scholars still present. Thanks to a twice-annual student levy, we have been able to sponsor a number of scholars and hope to continue in the coming years. We welcome you to explore how WUSC McGill operates on campus as we continue to support youth to youth mentorship through various social and educational events.
The McGill Students Chapter of the Canadian Red Cross is an officially-affiliated student chapter of the Canadian Red Cross. The objectives of our club are to hold events to raise awareness of the humanitarian and charitable initiative of the Canadian Red Cross, to raise funds in support of the Canadian Red Cross, and to provide interested students with information about how they can get involved with Canadian Red Cross initiative.
Our group works on educating and spreading awareness about concussions within the Montreal community as well as providing support for those recovering from mild traumatic brain injuries and concussions. We educate through workshops and presentations and provide support through providing resources as well as offering a support group that meets twice a week.
At FIMRC McGill, we work towards helping local people in need as well as fundraising for trips abroad. Throughout the school year, we take part in many different fundraising events. With the money we raise, we fund projects across countries in need. We also help locally, volunteering at homeless shelters every week. Any McGill student is welcome to join on Fridays as we cook, socialize, and spend time with the less fortunate of Montreal. Come join us at FIMRC McGill!
McGill Students for Greenpeace is the first university-level chapter of Greenpeace International to be established in Canada. We promote environmental awareness and advocacy around campus and the greater Montreal community. Our campaigns are related to sustainable habits and practices around consumption, food, waste, and resource-use, as well as increasing awareness of global environmental challenges. Heart4Heart is a non-profit organization that raises money to fund surgeries for children born with congenital heart disease (CHD) in developing countries. CHD is the leading birth defect worldwide, and children with CHD who cannot afford treatment often face a death sentence. At Heart4Heart, we work on a one-child basis to fund one surgery at a time. We also aim to raise awareness in the McGill community about congenital heart disease and the social disparity in healthcare, hoping to bridge the gap in access to medical treatment.
McGill Students for Make-a-Wish is a chapter of the Make A Wish Foundation located at McGill University. Throughout the year, we organize various events, both social and athletic to raise funds for Make-A-Wish Quebec. Our mission is to adopt one child’s wish every year as well as to raise awareness to the student body about this great cause. Last year we met this goal.
We are the official university representatives of Right To Play at McGill University. The role of the student ambassadors is to raise awareness and to organize fundraising events in support of Right To Play. Specifically, McGill Students for Right To Play works within the student community to fundraise and spread awareness of the foundation. In the Fall of 2006, a few students shared Right To Play’s belief in harnessing the power of sport for development and peace around the world and since becoming established we have developed into a successful and popular club at McGill. We plan athletic as well as social events in order to raise money for the international Right To Play organization and to expose the McGill community to a worthy cause. Not only are we aiming to raise more funds for Right To Play, but we are also striving to create a greater sense of awareness for the organization at McGill and strengthen our network by expanding into the Montreal community.

McGill Students for Wildlife Conservation aims to create events, fundraising, and volunteer opportunities that provide McGill students with hands-on experience in local conservation efforts. It places an emphasis on localized conservation techniques to secure the future of healthy ecosystems. This involves working hand-in-hand with human lives that shape natural environments to create a thriving community for all plants and animals within these ecosystems. Canada has a unique set of environmental issues in the face of the unprecedented climate crisis; including arctic warming, marine and freshwater pollution, and threats to biodiversity. Our club has the opportunity to mobilize students to engage with our local urban ecology that serves our downtown campus. With this, McGill Students for Wildlife Conservation has a mandate to protect and conserve habitats and populations of the world’s vulnerable species, placing an emphasis on rectifying threats to our local environment.
McGill Students for World Vision is founded with the mission to help achieve the goals set by World Vision—a humanitarian charity organization dedicated to working with children, families, and communities worldwide. We set out to tackle the causes of poverty and injustice in these communities, and we are determined to improve the lives of all disadvantaged children and families regardless of religion, race, ethnicity, and gender. Our key activities include fundraising, advocacy, and education within the McGill community in order to promote awareness on campus and student participation in both international and Canadian World Vision programs.
The McGill Students’ Cancer Society (MSCS) is a student-led group dedicated to making a difference in the lives of Canadians affected by cancer. By organizing fundraising campaigns, raising awareness, and of course planning our annual Relay For Life, the MSCS contributes to funding life-saving cancer research and patient support programs provided by the Canadian Cancer Society. Nazun (formerly Challah for Hunger) is a student-run initiative that fundraises for food insecurity causes through selling challah on campus. We do events to raise awareness of various social action causes, educate on Jewish events, and make food in a supportive and energetic environment.

SimplyDonate is a nonprofit organization that aims to facilitate the collection of items to be delivered to shelters and people in need.
We have collected over 11,000 lbs of clothing since the organization’s founding in June 2016!
By conducting clothing drives throughout the year, raising awareness on campus about reducing clothing waste, and delivering donations to charities and local donation centres, we seek to institute positive change within our community, as well as provide opportunities to McGill students to volunteer with us and make a difference.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a disease that affects approximately 2.5 million people worldwide. Canada has one of the highest prevalence rates of MS, which mostly affects the young adult demographic. This same age group is the one that is found in the McGill student community. Currently, there are very few associations that raise awareness for this prevalent disease. For this reason, SAMS aims to increase awareness and fundraising for Multiple Sclerosis through various events and programs.
Montreal is a city full of diversity, made of people from all over the world like refugees and migrants. We aim to provide a sustainable structure of integration for refugees and migrants in McGill as well as to offer support for students and their families by creating frameworks for socializing and building a community within McGill as well as the wider Montreal community. We also aim to promote the education of the student body and the public on refugee and migrant issues and ways to productively support and advocate for refugees and migrants.
Through Their Eyes is a student organization on the McGill campus that is passionate about raising awareness about the plight of orphans all around the world. Over the past few years, we have focused on sponsoring children’s education and everyday living through both consistent regular donors as well as fundraising events. Furthermore, we bring to light some issues that orphaned youth around the world are facing and provide a simple and effective avenue for individuals to show support.
