Event: Moral Obligation and Effective Altruism

Event: Moral Obligation and Effective Altruism

About the event

Ever wondered how you can make a meaningful difference in the world and help others effectively?

Effective altruism offers an approach to think about this question. It is a movement dedicated to find out how to help others as much as possible using evidence and careful reasoning, and taking concrete action by focusing on the most promising solutions to the world’s most pressing problems.

If you are interested in finding out more, join us for a talk by McGill Professor Chris Howard brought to you by McGill Students for One for the World in partnership with Effective Altruists at McGill! Chris will talk about Peter Singer, effective altruism, and on whether we have a moral obligation to give. After, we’ll explain how to get involved with the effective giving movement, and there will be an opportunity to discuss themes from the talk.
