Controversial Events Townhall with Professor Mendelson

How should the SSMU and McGill decide what events should and should not be allowed in the Shatner Building and on campus?

Date: Thursday, October 8, 2009
Time: 5:30pm – 7:00pm
Location: Lev Bukhman Room, Shatner Building
Email: cs@ssmu.mcgill.ca

Description

This will be an open forum for all students to share their thoughts about controversial events on our campus. How should the SSMU and McGill decide what events to permit in the Shatner Building and on campus? Should there be different guidelines for public vs. enclosed events? Should free speech be protected at all costs? Where do we draw the line?

This event will be hosted by the Deputy Provost (Student Life and Learning) Morton Mendelson and Vice President (Clubs and Services) Sarah Olle. We look forward to hearing your input to better guide our decisions to be reflective of our campus community.
